This Online publication, (like most of my other ideas) is an experimental project whereby I am hoping to provide a service to the local community as well as to local merchants who are always looking for a better way to communicate with the people of this area.  If you feel you could assist us in this effort, I would appreciate hearing from you.  Just stop by the shop sometime when you see me there and let me know what ideas you might have to add.
I Design and Host Websites, make all kinds of Signs, build creative LOG Furniture and have a very small resale shop, which some day might actually get opened at
225 Main St
in beautiful Downtown Washburn.

The Chamber of Commerce will meet Tuesday Oct 12, 2010 at the SW Subs Shop in Washburn, MO  Topics of discussion will include the
Christmas Parade, School Backpack program, Trojan Pep Club Sponsorship and Flag type signage
Two Familiar Faces, but...
Pete and Kate are pictured here making me a soft taco which I consumed eagerly because it was so tasty

The "Featured Business" this issue is/are actually four businesses owned by Pete and Kate Rose

Local residents, these enterprising individuals own and operate SW Sub Shop, Rose Tax Service, Rose Storage and TRO-Trax.  Pete says their car wash is going to be absorbed by Rose Storage and the building there will be turned into other storage or retail uses

Pete is the president of the Chamber of Commerce and is very community minded.  I have observed that every business he has begun has been given birth to serve some community need.  TRO-Trax is behind SW Subs and across from the school.  It is a remote control race car track and an extension of
Pete's interest in model car racing.  He says it is a great family sport and he has spent a lot of time and money fixing up the track to accomodate people who wish to bring their cars  (or rent cars) to race.

Pete says "Rose Storage" with two locations has plenty of storage spaces to rent ranging in sizes to accomodate your residential storage needs. The Washburn location is at Hwy90 and First St while the Seligman location is at 7874 E. Roller Ridge Rd.  The storage rates range from $21 to $70 monthly depending on size.

SW Subs is a great place for a quick and healthy alternative to fast food and a great place to stop by for a meal.  Daily specials make it more economical and the clean, modern facility makes it a fun place to relax and enjoy wide screen slide shows of community and school events.   On a personal note, I especially enjoyed the soft taco they fixed and found they will fix any sandwich or Taco as a vegetarian entree.  Have you tried a milk shake or ice cream cone?  Plenty of people have cooled off this summer with a tasty fruit shake from SW Subs, including me!

I can hardly wait for the first really cold day so I can warm up eating their home made chile!
New Dog in Town
"Silly" belongs to my friend Brenda and guards our shop against crazed armadillos, vagrant possums and delusional mice.  Trained in most types of marshal arts she is a real help and comfort to me just knowing she guards the door of the shop,  Declining an interview she only asked if she could have another pig's ear from Eagan's (her favorite treat)

In the picture below you can see Silly taking Karate lessons from the famed   street fighterpraying mantis "Xenia".    The picture was taken in the street between Rustic Creations and the Washburn Post Office.  Unfortunately just moments after this picture was taken, Xenia was run over by a mail truck. Silly escaped injury by stealth and cunning.
